Welcome to the Rotary Broadwater Chapel By The Sea, the only Chapel on the waterfront of the Gold Coast, now open for bookings to celebrate weddings and life’s special ceremonies.
The Rotary Broadwater Chapel By The Sea was formerly the Prayer Chapel of the original Gold Coast Hospital in Nerang Street, Southport. With the completion of the new Gold Coast University Hospital adjacent to Griffith University in 2013 and demolition of the original hospital imminent, the Rotary Club of Broadwater Southport Inc. were invited by Gold Coast Councillor Dawn Crichlow (O.A.M.) to save the Chapel and give it a new life.
The north of the Broadwater Parklands
Our unique chapel is located in the heart of the Gold Coast at the northern end of the Broadwater Parklands near the Fisherman’s Lawn and boasts stunning panoramic views of the Broadwater. There is easy access from North Street and Marine Parade with plenty of parking available.
In recent years the chapel experienced an extensive renovation to restore its former elegance and to increase its capacity. The chapel is fully equipped with air-conditioning, a signing table, an audio-visual system, adjustable lighting and internal seating for 42 people. The spacious timber deck provides room for more seating or standing guests, however, please be aware that you will need to provide your own seating for the deck.
Conveniently located adjacent to the chapel is the Northern Pavilion Community Centre, which is operated by the Gold Coast City Council. It provides the perfect venue to host your wedding reception or any post-ceremony activities.
Located in Southport, The Rotary Chapel is situated by the Broadwater and remains the sole waterfront chapel in the city. It’s convenient and ideal for picturesque Gold Coast views.

Once you’ve selected your date, you’ll need to secure your booking and lock in the date as well as any special requirements.
Once you’ve requested your booking, we’ll confirm it and then it’s simply a matter of enjoying your big day with friends family and any beloved pets.
All revenue raised by hiring the Chapel goes to support our Rotary Community Projects.
